Glen Gathering 2007

2007 marked the 15th year of the annual Glen Gathering, which first
took place in 1993 in New Hampshire.  Over the years  it moved to
Massachusetts, New Jersey, Connecticut and back to Massachusetts.
This year, for the second year in a row, Lynne Meschel-Bovenzi and
her husband Tommy hosted the Gathering at their gorgeous property,
Two Crow Farm,
in Barre, Massachusetts.  They also provide accomodations for Dr
Acland,
so we owe them a huge thank you!   The weather was great, the
resident animals (horses, donkeys, goats, sheep) were tolerant of all
the Glens, and it was a lovely day!  There were 38 Glens counted
there, including 4 puppies (we LOVE puppies!).  We do have an odd
 new tradition for the
Gathering... for two years in a row, the day has ended with a
rather spectacular
storm rolling in over the mountains!

So many people were involved in getting the Gathering off the ground,
although we try to keep the whole thing as simple as possible.
Everyone who has tents brings them, and everyone pitches in to put
them up and set up the (very heavy)  tables that Ara brings.  Maybe
next year folks with lighter tables can bring them and we can retire
 the heavy ones!
Thanks to Tommy and Mike for their help with setup.  Mary Brytowski
managed the raffle, which raised $115  for Dr Aclands PRA research
(thanks in part to Hilary Stark, who donated her winnings).

The eye clinic was ably managed by Susan and Jake Blum and Tommy.
Laura Trainor brought the GITCA emporium of  Glen items for sale.
Martha Parry set up a grooming tent (though most of our best groomers
were unable to attend this year) and also had a table for Glen rescue
with great tote bags for sale!  Everyone brought contributions for
the lunch buffet, which always offers an eclectic assortment of great
food!   Susan Blum brought coolers of ice and drinks for purchase.

As for activities, Mike Fonner brought the earthdog tunnels and the
rat, and organized the try-outs... there were some dogs who were
thrilled with their first taste of earthdog, and some who were not so
sure!    Laura Trainor brought Rally-O equipment and did a demo with
both her Glens [who hold titles in Rally].  We would love input from
the Glen community about future activities and offerings at the
Gathering!   Please contact any of the organizers:  Kathy Georgianna,
Martha Parry, Ara Lynn, and Susan Blum,
